Upcoming feature: User entered Geo-location data

One of the common feedback we have received so far is that not all addresses were geocodable. This is especially true for developing nations like India and China; also for newer homes.

Within the next few days we will be launching a newer feature where a user can tell us their geo-location (latitude and longitude). Users will be able to navigate a map and select their location to indicate their geo-location.

Our thanks to Rajeev Natararan for requesting this feature.

Latest and updated Chrome browser statistics for myGPSID.com

As promised last week, here are the statistics:

1. The Chrome browser usage is about 8% for mygpsid, which is still a staggering number for a nascent browser product in the market. It used to be 2% on the first week when the Google released chrome.

2. Our Firefox usage is almost same as Internet Explorer, which does not match the industry predictions and statistics. Why myGPSID browser usage data is so much different from the industry standard? Here is our explanation, hopefully everyone would agree to it: We believe our users are very tech-savvy, which could be the only reason to this level of deviation. What does this mean to other websites and web designers? Make sure to understand your market and ensure browser compatibility. As most of you know, IE 6 is a disaster to handle. It may make sense to tackle Chrome and Firefox first before dealing with IE 6.

Note: Take these statistics with a grain of salt. We are still in beta phase and our user base is not that significant.

Here is a browser poll for you!!!

Quite a few people have contacted us about the browser usage patterns in followup to our previously published data, which can be found here.  So far we had been very busy with our internal product development.
